CEU Press is pleased to announce that the University of Toronto is a subscriber member of Opening the Future. The University of Toronto Libraries (UTL) is the largest academic library system in Canada; the central library system includes 17 libraries and various central services.

They have opted to subscribe to the ‘OA Supporter Membership’ with CEU Press. Some institutions may not wish to sign up to one of the book packages, or may not be able to, but they still want to support the Open Access mission and monographs that CEU Press publishes. The OA Supporter Membership offers a route for these institutions: there are no backlist books to incorporate into the library’s catalogue but their membership fee allows CEU Press to make new books open in ways that do not ask authors to pay book processing charges.

CEU Press uses all library membership fees to produce new (and otherwise unfunded) frontlist titles in an open access format. The Press is a leading publisher in the history of communism and transitions to democracy; it is widely recognised as the foremost English-language university press dedicated to research on Central and Eastern Europe and the former communist countries.

If you would like to know more about the OA Supporter Membership or see how your library might enhance your own digital collection of eBooks by becoming a member of Opening the Future, you can watch a 60 second video, read more about the programme and benefits on the website and subscribe as a member with one quick form.
