CEU Press are pleased to announce that the Max Planck Society is a new subscribing member to their Opening the Future programme.

The library at the Max Planck Society has boosted their local collection by subscribing to the History and Political Science Packages.

This means that staff and students now have unlimited and concurrent access to 100 different eBooks on subjects including Central and Eastern European history from medieval times to the fall of communism, and socio-political, economic and cultural changes, both past and present, across Central and Eastern Europe.

As with all Opening the Future members, this institution has enhanced their eBook collection with titles relevant to the university’s research and teaching needs - and at the same time their membership fees are funding new frontlist titles in OA format so that everyone, including their users, will benefit from the global open collection it contributes to.

Through the generous support of member libraries all over the world, CEU Press has already been able to publish 20+ new OA books (with more funded and planned) which are freely available for download from Project MUSE, OAPEN, JSTOR, and other open platforms. You can read about, and access, all the OA books on the progress page:

If you would like to see how your library might similarly enhance your digital collection by becoming a member of Opening the Future, you can read more about the programme, and sign up in just a few clicks at or sign up directly via Lyrasis or Jisc through your normal invoicing workflow.
